The NCD College Development Camp mission is to connect hockey players with NCAA coaches and to educate them about the college hockey programs and the recruiting process. NCAA ice hockey coaches run all camp practice sessions, games and seminars
A National Collegiate Developement ( NCD) event provides a unique opportunity for exposure to NCAA college coaches.
While our events are a showcase opportunity, they differ considerably from the opportunities at
showcase tournaments:
Coaches seek prospects with not only sport-specific talent, but those with character and a strong work ethic as well. Best able to understand all of these qualities when they are working daily in practices and games with you, our coaches tell us they appreciate the opportunity to work with players over a period of a few days.
Every player has significant practice and game time with EVERY coach, unlike other events that pair specific coaches with specific squads of players for the duration of camp.
It's important to expand your opportunities in front of a coach beyond the time he or she may see you in a single game, which due to a variety of factors, you might not have happened to play your best.
While the very top prospects each year are generally well known and frequently sought after by multiple programs, the vast majority of NCAA recruited athletes come from a large group of talented, but previoulsy unknown players. Which players are recruited from this group ultimately comes down to who has the best opportunities for exposure.**
We think athletes have a better chance of achieving their goals if they understand the recruiting process and
how to help themselves in this process. Daily seminars with coaches explain:
the college recruiting and application process
NCAA clearinghouse and regulations
Financial aid and scholarships
What you can do to improve your chances of achieving your goals
What college coaches look for in players
We care that each player has the proper support to do his or her best:
We provide healthy meals and snacks five times each day
Rosters are kept small- both game and practice playing time is maximized
More ice time each day than other camps or showcases
Full- time trainers are on hand both at the rink and hotel at all times
